The SC Gamma Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon was founded on the campus of Wofford College on October 16, 1885 by James C. Jeffries. 

SC Gamma was the 48th charter granted by Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and it currently is the 33rd oldest active chapter of the Fraternity. It has achieved the chapter of the year award in South Carolina for three straight years, and there are currently 76 active brothers.
